Computing

Computers, business email, and backups

The computers, email, and files a business runs on, matched to how the business actually works.

Computers

Every business uses computers differently. Exchange Packet gets to know how each one is used, then recommends what gives the best value, whether that means keeping, refreshing, or replacing. Not every slow computer needs to be replaced, and not every new one needs to be top of the line.

  • Computer checkupsEach computer is looked at to see whether it can be brought back to a usable speed or is better replaced.
  • Right-sized replacementsWhere a replacement makes sense, Exchange Packet talks through what the business actually needs and recommends quality equipment that fits, without overkill and without overspending, with room to grow if the business does.
  • Refurbishing current computersCleaning, upgrading, and restoring computers a business already owns so they can stay in service.
  • Refurbished and used optionsWhere it suits the customer, refurbished computers, and in certain low-risk cases used ones, can offer good value. Each is thoroughly checked before it is deployed.
  • Setup, repair, and updatesInstallation, configuration, troubleshooting, and keeping systems current, including perpetual software licenses that are bought once and owned.
  • Surplus equipmentBusinesses with surplus computers are welcome to ask about selling them.

Business email

Email from a company domain is one of the simplest ways for a business to look established. An address such as name@yourcompany.com shows a real, professional business and keeps the company name in front of everyone who receives a message.

A domain alone is not enough. It also has to be set up correctly, or outgoing messages can land in spam or never arrive. Proper configuration gives email the best chance of reaching its destination, and staff keep working in a familiar mailbox.

  • Company addressesname@yourcompany.com for each person, plus shared addresses such as info@ and support@, in place of free consumer addresses.
  • Delivery settingsRecords added to the domain (SPF, DKIM, and DMARC) that prove a message really came from the company. They help keep outgoing mail out of spam folders and help prevent the company name from being forged.
  • Repair of existing emailFinding and fixing company email that lands in spam, bounces, or depends on a workaround service to send.
  • Moving existing mailMoving from a free address or another provider to the new setup, with old messages carried over.
  • SupportAdding and removing users, resetting passwords, and troubleshooting.

Files, accounts, and printers

  • Files and backupsA central place to store and share files, with a protected second copy so a failed drive or a mistake does not mean lost work.
  • Accounts and sign-insAccounts added and removed as staff come and go, with passwords and access kept under control.
  • Printers and office equipmentPrinters, scanners, and other equipment that connect and simply work, chosen to run without service contracts.
